A Comprehensive List of the Most Beautiful Beaches in Mexico

Mexico is one of the biggest countries in the world, spanning millions of square kilometers. It's surrounded by several bodies of water, including the Pacific Island and the Caribbean Sea. It's no wonder therefore that you can hardly count the number of beautiful and white-sand beaches that are scattered all over the country.

If you love some water adventures or just go lazy in any beach front, you can choose among these world-renowned Mexico beaches:

1. Acapulco. This beach is known to be the haven of the stars not only because of the beaches but also because of the many cruise lines. There are also a lot of grand hotels, such as the Grupo Mayan, where you can be treated like nobilities with their world-class amenities. Adding to the real charm of Acapulco will be its excellent sunny weather. Now is the best time to visit Acapulco too, since there are several renovations and improvement that are being done.

2. Cabo San Lucas. This beach is located at the southern portion of Mexico, in Baja Peninsula. It is not as active as Acapulco, perhaps because it's separated by the mainland. However, if you love sports fishing, this is definitely the place to go. Moreover, the entire beach is filled with countless coral and aquatic species, which makes diving a popular pastime in Cabo San Lucas.

3. Mazatlan. Mazatlan has learned to combine history and culture, with modernism. Despite the growing hotels and condominiums such as those of Grupo Mayan it is still able to preserve its heritage. Thus, besides the beaches, you can also enjoy some hiking trails up the valleys to get a glimpse of old structures like the El Faro. There are also a number of less-visited beaches here, where you can get the privacy that you need.

4. Puerto Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta gives you so much idea of the life of the Mexicans a long time ago. The streets are all cobbled, and a lot of its buildings still maintain its neo-classical look. The entire town is cozy and easygoing, something ideal for those who have lived a truly hectic lifestyle. There are several resort villas and condominiums right at Puerto Vallarta, so you can choose to stay for a very long time.

5. San Jose del Cabo. This is a small provincial town in Mexico, adorned with quaint cafes and restaurants, where you can feast on real Mexican food. There are also plenty of art galleries showcasing Mexican art, as well as well-designed Mexican houses. Aside from the beaches, there are also golf courses where you can spend the remaining time of the day teeing.

6. Todos Santos. It took some time before tourists would be able to see the magic of Todos Santos. Fortunately, since it's a road that leads to Cabo San Lucas, travelers would never fail to see the town and appreciate the Mexican crafts displayed in Todos Santos shops. It also gives you one of the best shorelines facing the Pacific Ocean.

Do you love the Mexican beaches? Book yourself in a Grupo Mayan hotel that will allow you to enjoy the waves and the sun while having a comfortable and spacious room of your own. To know more, drop by at http://www.beachlove.org

An Overview of Patong Nightlife

Patong nightlife is famous through Thailand. Some compare Patong nightlife to that of places such as Pattaya or Patong in Bangkok. There are a lot of similarities, but Patong has its own identity.

So what does Patong nightlife have to offer? Well, all the stories you've heard are true. Patong has cheap beer, go-go bars, beer bars, nightclubs and, of course, lots of girls.

Patong nightlife won't be to everybody's taste, but if you're kind of open-minded and you don't mind being among some pretty uncouth people, you can have a lot of fun in Patong. Don't go expecting anything special and you won't be disappointed.

Patong nightlife can be incredibly seedy. There are rows and rows of go-go bars, strip joints and bars where you can watch sex shows. You see some odd thing in Patong, including ladyboys, who will sometimes chase you through the street to try and get your attention. Smiles and be polite, or you might end up with a punch in the face.

Also in Patong is Phuket's gay nightlife scene in Soi Paradise. If you're a gay traveler visiting Phuket or if you're just kind of curious what the deal is, Soi Paradise is an open, friendly place where things can get a bit steamy from time to time. Go with an open mind.

Most of the fun in Patong is to be had on Bangla Road. Bangla is where the majority of the bars and clubs are. The area is dirty and it smells funny, but it is the center of Patong nightlife.

There are several small sois off Bangla Road, each with its own little selection of bars, clubs and restaurants. Pick and choose, explore and enjoy.

Most people who come to Phuket either love or hate Patong nightlife. It's unfortunate then that Patong is one of the few places in Phuket that attracts enough people for the nightlife scene to be interesting.

In terms of music, Patong nightlife doesn't have a lot to offer. There are a few places with live music, but the majority of the bars and clubs in Patong serve up heavy doses of loud pop music, hip hop and dance music hits. There are a few exceptions, but Thai girls love to dance to mindless blaring beats.

Nightlife in Patong is far from being perfect, but while you're in Patong, you'll be sure to meet a few interesting characters. People watching is a lot of fun in Patong. All you need to do is find a bar, order a beer and watch the endless flow of people moving in all directions up and down the road.

You'll have fun if you go to party in Patong, but you'll feel a bit icky from time to time. Patong is known to attract some real oddball characters, particularly during high season. It's a shame that the world's beer louts and yobs seem to favor trips to Phuket, but for the most part, if you stay out of their way, they will stay out of yours.

Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives Program (HAFA)

We all know how frustrating it can be when banks take up to 7 months to respond to an offer, by which time the buyer has likely already purchased something else. Frustrating for seller, buyer and agent alike. Hopefully, that is about to change.

On April 5th 2010, the above mentioned program, known as HAFA, came into effect. On its face, it seems to be a step in the right direction. Participating banks, and that is almost all of them, agree to abide by established time frames for responding to offers and for determining the net proceeds they desire from a short sale. If they do not comply, they will be ousted from the program.

It is quite involved so I suggest you Google it, but here are some highlights. For the Realtor, it prohibits the bank from reducing the commission. For the seller, they will be absolved of the debt without any judgements or promissory notes allowed. The seller may also receive $1500 for re-location. (Quick translation; relocation= not trashing the joint.) The bank also receives a financial incentive for following the guide-lines.

All in all, it seems to be a win-win situation. So why am I concerned? I search the MLS every day for various clients, often in areas that are chock full of short sales. Since this program was announced, of all the short sales I have reviewed, only ONE has mentioned HAFA. This is tragic. This means that there are hundreds of agents out there who have the listings, but do not have the faintest idea of how to process them within the new frame work. It is tragic because what is, or was, an extremely difficult process no loner needs to be. If the agents don't know about it, do the banks? If a great idea fell in the forest, and no one was there to hear it...

I am curious to hear opinions on the from professionals across the country. Maybe it's just my area. What say you?

Saratoga Springs, NY: A European-Style City in a Uniquely American Setting

George Washington not only slept here, he brought his friends along and partied. "Here" is Saratoga Springs, New York, famous for its mineral waters, horse racing and fashionable culture. Since just after the Revolutionary War, the rich and powerful in American society have been flocking to the Saratoga region. Today, the wealthier classes still gather at the city's wide variety of social spots, but more frequently they rub elbows with the "average Joe." Why the sudden appeal to the average tourist?

Before the 1950's, Saratoga was popular as a gambling mecca. Casinos and horse racing went hand-in-glove with taking the famous mineral baths and dining in fine restaurants. It was a place to see and be seen. Unfortunately, post-WWII Saratoga began to run rife with scandal and corruption. The casinos closed their doors for good. The mineral baths began to decline, along with much of the downtown area. Today, thanks to solid city planning, that has all changed--drastically. The city is now one of the jewels of New York's Capital District/Adirondack region. The mineral baths are still popular, and the races--both thoroughbred and harness--are drawing crowds in every season. However, new and trendy attractions are continually being added with each passing year. And with these extra incentives, Saratoga has once again become a hotspot for tourists. It now offers a wide variety of enticements, with the bonus of having all the flavor of a European resort--but not necessarily with the accompanying expenses.

Downtown Saratoga is a prime example of urban revitalization. Strollers can walk down the combination of modern and old fashioned streets, and window shop at both upscale merchants and unique local boutiques. Afterward, tourists can dine casually at a sidewalk café, while enjoying the sounds of a street entertainer, or visit a comedy club or dinner/movie theater. Visitors can take a carriage ride around town. They can also check out the lovely Victorian-style Congress Park, with its restored antique carousel, formal gardens and fully restored Canfield Casino museum. Even the local library is popular with tourists, offering a gourmet coffee bar and special lecture programs year-round.

Art abounds in Saratoga: from sidewalk art, to galleries and museums, to art shows. Antique lovers will find a number of dealers in and around the city, as well as flea markets and town-wide garage sales. Music is a special attraction for the area. Besides the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC)--which hosts everything from famous rock bands to classical music--the city's many bars, clubs and coffee houses offer every type of music imaginable, nearly seven days a week, 365 days a year. Excellent live stage productions can be seen at the Little Theater, located in the historic bath complex in the Spa State Park, and local musical theater is periodically available at nearby Corinth Theater Guild, in this quaint northern Saratoga County village. Dance has a permanent home in the city, thanks to the National Museum of Dance and local dance companies.

There are other museums in Saratoga: the National Museum of (thoroughbred) Racing, the Saratoga Harness Hall of Fame, the children's museum, auto museum, petrified forest, and a military museum. Outside the city, in the town of Saratoga (near Schuylerville) is the Saratoga Battlefield National Park. After all the activity, visitors can wind down at a local spa or in the mineral baths or pause for a drink from one of the public mineral springs located within the city. If it's food you crave, you can find a huge variety of tastes to suit your palate here. From haute cuisine, vegetarian, seafood and international flavors, to American BBQ, Southern and Southwestern cooking, you can find something for everyone--even buffets, chain restaurants, local diners and junk food. But cultural and dining pursuits are not the only things drawing tourists to Saratoga Springs. Saratoga has become a horse fan's paradise.

In 2004, the local night harness racing track, Saratoga Raceway, was re-vamped into a "racino"--a combination Video lottery casino (slots), racetrack and off-track betting parlor. Re-named Saratoga Gaming and Raceway, the beautiful new facility has thousands of slot machines, as well as an upstairs video wagering parlor open 5 days a week, and nightly live harness racing four days a week. Saratoga Gaming and Raceway also offers an affordable high quality buffet as well as a slightly pricey food court. Besides the slot machines, SGR gives regular players a chance to win fabulous prizes--thousands in cash, a trip to an Irish castle with spending money, a Jeep Commander, a Cadillac and other wonderful incentives. The nightly harness racing--held Wednesday through Saturday nights--is exciting and fast-paced, with lively calls by the raceway's new young and trendy announcer, Mike Sardella, and wire-to-wire action by top drivers and horses. A grand hotel is planned on the site for sometime in the future.

The thoroughbred track, known locally as "the August place to be," Saratoga Race Course is open from late July until the end of August. Hosting the best in thoroughbred racing for over 150 years, it has been the number one attraction for the area in all that time. Although soon to be under new ownership, the public has been reassured that the track will retain its age-old lovely class and character. Saratoga Race Course is still the high point of the season for the society set--especially the Travers Stakes (which is broadcast live on national TV) and the Whitney Handicap--two of America's premier summer racing events. Besides racing, there are other equine events to draw horse lovers to Saratoga.

Other equine attractions that draw the horse lover to Saratoga include world-class polo in the summer months, a huge dressage and carriage show (to benefit a local charity) every Memorial Day weekend, a carriage parade during the august racing season, barrel racing events and the St. Clements horse show in the spring--which brings in many top show jumpers to the area, and other local shows throughout the year. There's even rodeos in nearby Ballston Spa and Lake Luzerne.

The Saratoga County Fair, held in Ballston Spa every July, has horse breeds of many kinds on display. But that's not all the fun for the horse aficionado. Art galleries, tack shops and western stores, as well as gift shops, display a wide variety of clothing, artwork and gifts for you to purchase. You can even go for a ride at one of the local stables outside the city, in Middle Grove, Ballston Spa or Lake Luzerne. If horses aren't your thing, don't worry: other activities are available in the form of golf, bowling, tennis, cycling, walking/hiking, swimming, boating, canoeing, rowing, fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating. No matter what your pleasure, chances are you can always find something going on, either in the city or nearby.

If you can't get to Europe this season, why not try the Saratoga area? Accommodations in Saratoga can be tight and quite expensive during the August racing season, so be warned and make reservations very early. However, because of its location (halfway between the capital city of Albany and the Adirondack resort area of Lake George), there are literally thousands of places to stay within a fifty mile radius. Lodgings range from upscale hotels and resorts, to most popular chain hotels, smaller local motels, bed and breakfasts, rooming houses, campgrounds and cabin rentals and even a few dude ranches in the Adirondacks. If you're really flush, you may even find a whole house to rent. The area is easily accessible from New York City or Montreal--via Interstate 87 and the Albany International Airport, and also has bus, train and cab service readily available, as well as car rentals.

Miss Golash lives in the Adirondacks with her two cats and works in Saratoga Springs. She's a graduate of Adirondack Community College, and also attended Castleton State College in Vermont.

Red Sea Blue

Thousands of divers travel annually to explore the depths of the amazing underwater world of the Red Sea. How many of them, I wonder, spare a moment to question the paradox of this dazzling blue paradise described red?

Of course the name doesn't indicate a permanent red colour as the water is most definitely blue when viewed from afar, golden green around the reefs and transparent when scooped up into one's hand. But just why the Red Sea is so called is a complicated mystery and while several theories abound, none are conclusive.

The sea has been variously known throughout history as the 'Arabian Gulf' or the 'Erythraean Sea'. In fact ancient Egyptian mariners referred to this same body of water as the 'Great Green' or 'Green Sea'. Conversely the name 'Erythraean Sea' has also been applied to the waters around the Southern Arabian Peninsula, which we now know today as the Indian Ocean. The name 'Red Sea' even appears at one time to refer to the entire maritime area between Africa, Arabia and south Asia.

The most common accepted explanation for the current name is the frequent red tide of a plankton bloom caused by a type of algae called Trichodesmium Erythraeum. When these algae blooms die off the blue-green colour of the sea appears to change to that of reddish-brown.

Some say the name is taken from the sometimes peculiar red colouring on the waters caused by the light of the setting sun reflecting off the mountain ranges of the surrounding Sinai Peninsula. In Hebrew these mountains are in fact called the 'Rubi Mountains'.

Others maintain that the current name is a translation error made by early Bible scholars from the original Hebrew version of the Old Testament's book of Exodus, which describes the parting of the Red Sea and the subsequent escape from Egypt of thousands of Jewish slaves led by Moses. The main cause of the confusion appears to be that in the Hebrew text the reference to the body of water associated with the exodus is called 'yam suph'. Translated directly this means 'sea of reeds', leading some to believe that over time reed has simply been misspelled or shortened to red.

Regardless of the origins of its name, there's no doubting the fact that for centuries the Red Sea has been a scene of shipwreck and adventure for pilgrims, pirates, merchants and smugglers.

Today the adventure continues with numerous divers continually pushing the limits to uncover its magical attractions hidden just below the surface, no doubt much more concerned with this mystery than that of its name.

1 year in commemoration of One-Two-Go air crash at Phuket

Special Report for Andaman News NBT (VHF dial) + FM90.5 Radio Thailand at 8.30am & perhaps repeats on Phuket Cable TV channel 1, broadcast to Phang Nga, Krabi & Phuket provinces, Tuesday 16 September 2008 & thainews.prd.go.th Send comments to AndamanNews@yahoo.com Today one year ago, the One-Two-Go Airlines Flight OG 269 from Bangkok crashed and burst into flames on landing at Phuket International Airport at around 3.40pm. The pilot had decided to land in extremely severe & windy weather. During the time, factors like wind shear were widely spoken of as the wind was extremely bad during the landing time. This was the first major accident at the airport in its history. The plane carried 130 passengers and crew and the accident killed 90 people of many nationalities, including Australians, Iranians, Israelis, British, Americans and Thais. An official investigation plus inquiries by victims families had been going on for almost a year before the Thai Department of Civil Aviation revealed the investigation result for the cause of the crash as bad weather & pilot error. For the peace of mind in residents and staff, a Buddhist symbol statue is now established near the airport not long after the accident. Chavalert and Chavit Jit-jam-nong, a father and son, were among survivors, but they lost their loved one, a wife and a mother. He said Now my father looks after me. Im better. Hot Hotel Destinations on the Cheap

There's something to be said about getting away from it all -- even if just for a weekend. Checking into a fabulous hotel and rejuvenating is one of the best experiences in life.

But it's a common misconception that high quality hotels have to be expensive. Surprisingly there are hotel discounts in the hottest destinations if you know where to look. Here are just a few hot hotel destinations on the cheap.

Minneapolis, Minnesota

Minneapolis is quickly becoming a city of hipsters. The downtown area is filled with trendy hotels, world class dining, and fabulous shopping. Let's not forget that Minneapolis is home to the Mall of America, where you can find any store imaginable. Plan a weekend of shopping in Minneapolis and you will not be disappointed.

Daytona Beach, Florida

While most Europeans head for the pleasures of Orlando, Americans know the hottest hotel destination in Florida is Daytona Beach, a long time favorite of "Spring Breakers". If you're looking for fun in the sun with a bit of alcohol and hot bodies mixed in, then Daytona is the destination for you. However, during the summer and winter the resort becomes surprisingly family friendly. Beach front hotels in Daytona Beach abound, and if you book with the right company, are surprisingly some of the best cheap hotel deals in the state of Florida.

New York City, New York

The Big Apple -- the city so good they named it twice -- is a must-see destination for any traveler. With an unrivalled variety of restaurants, iconic buildings, top quality shopping, and cultural exhibits no one will be bored in New York City. Fortunately, NYC has plenty of hotel rooms that will exceed your expectations in quality and location. Whether you want to stay in Times Square or near the Theatre District, you will have no problem finding high quality cheap hotels in New York, if you know where to look.

Las Vegas, Nevada

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so there is no reason to tell any of your friends how cheap you're fabulous Las Vegas hotel room really was. A cheap hotel room in Vegas is a sinful right of all savvy Las Vegas visitors, and it gives you more money to play the tables. You can easily find discount hotels everywhere in downtown Las Vegas and the famous Las Vegas Strip, especially with dramatic cost-cutting as the resorts vie to win back customers from other gambling attractions. And no matter where you stay you're guaranteed a vacation you'll never forget.

The beautiful nation of Fiji has been known to be a great place when it comes to scuba diving. One should also consider this as an absolute truth since this is one place that has 322 islands which are unique and diminutive. When it comes to entertainment and attractions, this is a well known tourist spot. True enough many people are more aware of this place of marvel with regard to rugby, yet having said that scuba diving is also a leisure activity that has its own set of fans.

There is nothing like getting information from travelers who went there for scuba diving. They will be able to offer you information on what to expect and what not to. Having said that you should also note that scuba diving in Fiji is a unique experience that is memorable. Besides the fact that you will be able to scuba dive in warm tropical waters that offer a treasure trove of marine life, you are assured of getting close to nature. You are also more than welcome to take your friends and family along for a scuba diving adventure, especially in accommodation spots like Qamea Resort and Spa FIJI Taveuni which offer such facilities.

There are many offers by Fijian accommodation spots such as Long Beach Resort and Yasawas Fiji Islands which will make fiscal sense to you. The latter is a typical budget special spot which caters mainly to backpackers. Furthermore, other activities such as snorkeling, jet skiing, game fishing, paraflying and island hopping are sure to make your scuba diving holiday in the Fijian truly special. Such activities can be found in spots such as Rainbow Reef Resort and Dive Vanua Levu Fiji Islands.

If you are a hardcore scuba diver, you can also enjoy close encounters with sharks in places like Beqa Lagoon which is as awesome as it is terrifying; such encounters are offered by Aqua-Trek. You are assured that safety precaution will be taken to ensure your safety at all times. An in-depth education on the marine environment will also be detailed out to you by Fiji's most experienced scuba diving spots such as the award-winning Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort or Scuba Bula Dive Centre. This way you get to see, first hand, the beautiful sights that are on offer. Another great experience you will enjoy is the viewing of shipwrecks when you go scuba diving. That is not all; you can choose which islands you want to scuba dive off from, such as Lacamba.

With all of this on offer, you should seriously consider visiting Fiji on a scuba diving holiday. Besides the fact that all of these features are present in most of the accommodation spots that cater to scuba divers, you should also enjoy the island for what it is. It's a land that is filled with tropical beauty and nature which all enthusiasts of anything 'green' will like. Make sure you make it a priority to visit Fiji some time soon; it is a paradise that is yours for the taking!

Where to Backpack Within South East Asia

Thailand

Thailand is usually the best place to start for the first time independent traveler. It's very easy to get around and there are always lots of other backpackers about to chat and hang out with.

Thailand is a mixture of forests to the North for Trekking and some of the best beaches in the world in the south.

Bangkok is a buzzing city crisscrossed with canals & rivers. The sky line is one of high rises, shopping malls & international hotel chains but at the canal banks and side streets of the city the traditional side of Thai life is clearly visible. The business hub of the city is easily navigated using the skyrail & underground but the more touristy areas around the Koh San road are less well supplied & Tuk Tuks are the main mode of transport. Negotiate hard with your tuk tuk driver - a taxi will always be cheaper & has the advantage of air conditioning however be sure to agree that you're charged according to the metre as opposed to agreeing a fixed price. Taxis will only take you at an agreed price after 3pm as from this point on your in to rush hour and they are highly likely to spend hours with you stuck in traffic!

Your main point of call will be the Koh San road as this is where all the hostels and guesthouses are located. This is one long street where there is a market every night and lots of bars and restaurants to choose from even a McDonald's and Burger King for those who are want something more to home. For the best food though go to the street hawkers. You will get some of the best Pad Thai you will have ever eaten for around 20 Baht.

South Islands

Most people come to Thailand for the beaches and Diving. The main Islands in the south are:

Koh Tao

A backpacker Island where everyone comes to dive and mainly to learn how to dive. There are some great beaches here and also a good nightlife.

Koh Pan gan

This is the party island of Thailand and where the famous Full Moon party is held each month. This if you have not heard is one big crazy party on a beach which attracts at least 10,000 people each month to get as fucked up as possible. Get here a few days early during the peak months if you want to get accommodation though.

Koh Samui & Phuket

These islands are crammed full of package holiday tourists on their yearly holiday for 2 weeks in the sun. I would strongly suggest avoiding these two islands.

Koh Phi Phi

This island did get severely damaged by the Tsunami and having seen the before and after myself it truly is remarkable how quickly is has got back onto its feet. There is one main area/town where everybody stays but it's still big enough not for everyone to be on top of each other. The Beach is like a postcard or you can get a boat to the lagoon where the Leo Dicapro film 'The Beach' was filmed and chill there for the day.

Vietnam

Vietnam was ravaged by war but is now a great place to visit. I suggest starting your trip off in Hanoi and working your way down the country.

Hanoi

Hanoi is the capitol of Vietnam and is a great introduction into the Vietnamese way of life. The city is always bustling and careful when crossing those roads as those motorbikes don't stop.

The city center is located around Hoan Kiem lake, just of the lake is the old quarter which is the main area for budget hostels and guesthouses. Hanoi is a great place to just go out and wander. Each street has its own trade and each shop will only sell products to do with that trade so you end up having streets only selling shoes or kitchenware. It's weird to see but that's the way they do it.

If you get tired and hot whilst walking around you can always stop off for some Bia Hoi. You will see all around the city lots of people sitting on little plastic chairs on the street, this is where they sell the Bia Hoi. This is officially the cheapest draft beer in the world. A glass should set you back about 10p/20 Cents.

Ha Long bay

This is north of Hanoi and is available from all travel agencies in the city as either overnight trip. This is a must for anyone in the area as it is UNESCO heritage site and is for a good reason.

The bay has close to 2000 limestone islands with of caves to explore and a few lagoons to go kayaking in. When you go out to the bay you go out on a traditional junk ship where you will get your own room and dinner and breakfast served.

Hoi An

Hoi An is located on the coast and actually has a pretty decent beach. It is the also the place to come for tailor-made clothes. There are too many tailors to mention here with the main road pretty much consisting of them. You can get literally anything made here all you need to do is take a photo of the item you want and they will make it for you. A good quality suit will cost around $50-$100.

Nha Trang

Is a beach resort just over halfway down the country. This city is very developed with a good long beach stretching the entire length of it. There is not much to do culturally here but it's a good place to unwind after more than a few very long bus journeys to get this far. If you choose to just relax on the beach all day the only time you need to move from it is to go to the toilet as there are so many hawkers selling you pretty much anything you require from books, drinks to a BBQ of fresh fish. There is a big nightlife here with a couple of main place to go to. These are the Why Not Bar and the Sailing Club which is right on the beach but more expensive for it.

Ho Chi Min City (Saigon)

This is the Vietnam you see in the films. Streets packed out with so many bikes, fumes that make it hard to breathe and just general chaos. There a quite a few museums here to visit which are mainly to do with the war but are all worth a visit and even the strongest man will hold back tears at the photos of the suffering they endured.

From here you do a day trip to the Cu Chi tunnels where the North had a series of small tunnels which they used to fight the south. You can go down some of these tunnels but be warned that they are very small and it's best not to do it on a hangover like I did. Also here you can fire an array of automatic weapons and rifles which is not that cheap as you pay per bullet.

Cambodia

Cambodia has had quite a nasty past with its dictator Pol Pot but is recovering maybe not as fast as its neighbors' but it is getting there. Cambodia is surrounded by Vietnam, Thailand and Laos and has the Mekong go through the country into Laos.

Phnom Penh

Is a typical Asian Capitol city, will not loads to do but getting there is a great experience if you come from Vietnam. From Saigon you can get a boat which will take you 2 days to get here but you do see some real Vietnam and Cambodia on the way.

The two main places to see in and around Phnom Penh are the Killing Fields where around 200,000 people were executed during 1975-1979 when the Khmer Rouge reigned. You can see millions of bones and thousands of skulls that have been recovered from the pits.

Also go to S-21 which used to be a high school which was converted to a prison also during the Khmer Rouge where they imprisoned up to 20,000 people and repeatedly tortured and killed from this.

Two to three times a day they show a film which goes into detail of what went on in the prison with interviews from survivors and prison guards.

Sihanoukville

Is a beach resort about 3 to 4 hours bus ride away from Phnom Penh and has a decent enough beach which all long has hostels/guesthouses, restaurants and bars where you can chat with new found friends and enjoy a nice cold beer. You can dive here but I would not waste your money as the visibility is very poor and the reefs not having much sea life.

Siem Reap/Angkor Wat

Siem Reap is the city closest to the temples of Angkor Wat. The town itself does not have much to offer apart from a market in the center of town where you can get some new clothes and souvenirs. Every night most people head down to the aptly named Bar Street to meet and hang out with friends.

The temples of Angkor are quite spectacular and are very worth the visit. You get the choice of either a 1 day or 3 day pass. It is recommended to go for sunrise over Angkor Wat as this is quite amazing but can get very busy.

There is so many temples to see here most still in great condition. Although my favorite is the one which has been taken over by the jungle and most of it are ruins.

You can either hire a tuk tuk driver to take you around which is advised if you do the one day trip or just hire a bike and go around at you own pace.

Laos

Laos is landlocked and borders Burma, China, Vietnam, Thailand and Vietnam. Laos was involved in the Vietnam War mainly due to its proximity to the country and is one of the most under developed country in the region.

Vang Vieng

The town where you leave remembering nothing. This place is just one big drunken haze. You get a tractor inner tube and float down a river and stop off at bars on route and get free shots of lao lao whiskey and then drink buckets of more lao lao whiskey and coke until 6pm then when you think you have enough you go over to an island which is just bars (smile is the best) until middnight when the curfew kicks in. Love this place :D

Try the rope swings at each of the bars. The first bar has the biggest whatever other bars may claim.

Luang Prabang

Very beautiful town and is very quiet compared with Vang Vieng. The night market seems to run on forever with lots of goodies. Also if you go here you have to go bowling one evening after 11pm - you will see what I mean.

Melbourne Tourist Attractions

I love spending my vacations in Australia and my favorite destination is most certainly Melbourne. It is the second largest city in the country after Sydney and is located along Australia's south coast. It is home to about 3 and a half million residents and they claim that it is one of the world's most livable cities.

This city never gets boring to me as there are many wonderful attractions to visit, places to go shopping and beaches to head down to.  I have listed down below some of my favorite tourist attractions in this Australian city.

Zoo

The oldest Zoo in the country is the Melbourne Zoo which was founded in 1862. I have been to zoos around the world and I rate this one as one of the best. It is in fact the 3rd oldest zoo on the planet. Be sure to visit the captive Lowland Gorilla breeding program. The opening hours for the zoo are daily from 09:00 until 17:00.

Luna Park

The Luna Park is located at St. Kilda beach and first opened its doors to the public nearly one hundred years ago. If you are planning a holiday with your kids then you simply must take them to this wonderful amusement park.

Melbourne Cricket Ground

This is one of the most important cricket grounds in the world and was built in 1853. It has a capacity of a hundred thousand and other sports are also played at the MCG including Aussie Rule Football.

Aquarium

The aquarium of this popular Australian travel destination is considered to be one of the finest in the world. This is definitely an attraction which visitors from all ages will enjoy and you can easily spend the entire day enjoying the aquarium. Please note that the opening hours of the Aquarium are daily from 09:30 until 18:00.

Royal Botanic Gardens

One of my favorite places in Melbourne is the Royal Botanic Gardens. It was built in 1863 and is home to a world class collection of both foreign as well as domestic plants. Be sure to also go on the Aboriginal Heritage Walk at the Royal Botanic Gardens. Opening hours at this wonderful venue are Monday through Friday from 09:00 until 17:00 and during the weekend from 09:30 until 17:00.

So if you are planning to spend your vacation in this wonderful holiday destination and are looking for some good places to visit at night then I can definitely recommend you a few great establishments which you should explore.

Discos

There are a number of busy and lively discos in town and the majority is located in the vicinity of Bangla Road. The busiest is the Tiger Disco which is located on top of the Tiger entertainment complex. It normally starts to get busy around midnight and it closes between three and four o'clock in the morning. If you still can't sleep then why not head down to the Safari Pub for an after hour party. Some other great places which you can visit include Bananas, VIP and Tai Pan.

Beer Bars
